UK Visa Refused

What Happens if You Do Nothing?

Preparing a UK immigration application is a stressful process in its own right. Most of the time there are so many prospects and expectations connected to this process and the stakes are definitely high. It is a promise of:

    • An exciting visit or a new life in a new country;
    • Landing a job and starting an exciting new career;
    • Visiting or joining your family in a new country;
    • Starting a new business venture or continuing and promoting your business in a new country;
    • Relocating or investing;
    • Starting an education or joining one of the most competitive and prestigious schools worldwide.

If your application is not successful and you receive a letter rejecting your application, many dreams and plans may get shattered. What happens if you choose to do nothing about it?

What is a Rejection Letter?

A rejection letter is usually a letter received from UK immigration authorities rejecting your UK immigration application.

What are the consequences of the rejection letter?

Rejection letter simply informs you that your application sadly was not successful on this occasion. Depending on your application you may be given the opportunity to apply again. However, in some circumstances there may be too much hanging in the balance and you cannot afford to do nothing about it.

What happens if you do nothing about your rejection letter?

A rejection letter may terminate all your rights that you might have continued to enjoy while in the UK, such as to:

    • Live legally in the UK;
    • Work legally in the UK;
    • Study in the UK;
    • Remain in the UK;
    • Open and maintain your bank account;
    • Receive NHS services;
    • Receiving practical and financial assistance in the circumstances where this is feasible.

Therefore, receiving a letter from UK immigration authorities rejecting your immigration application is able to wipe out these rights and privileges overnight.

The status of the main applicant’s application impacts the status of all the family members who are dependent on the main applicant for UK visa purposes.

In the worst case scenario, usually there are two options when a rejection letter is received either:

    • To leave the country (UK) if the application was made in the UK. Failure to do so may trigger removal and deportation procedures as well as a lengthy travel ban; or
    • Start an expensive and demanding appeal process. This alone does not mean that appealing the negative decision is going to be successful.

What can you do to minimise the chances of your application being rejected?

You can minimise the chances of your UK immigration application being rejected by:
