As you start your Tier 1 Investor visa application process, your UK immigration adviser may suggest exploring alternative options to the mainland UK.

Mainland UK are the British Isles that consist of the United Kingdom of Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) and Northern Ireland.

The islands of Guernsey and Jersey (officially referred to as Bailiwick of Jersey) are Crown Dependencies. This means they are not part of the UK and the British Government is responsible for their defence and international representation.

Notwithstanding, these islands are free to set up their own immigration regime under Tier 1 Investor visa.

These are much smaller islands than the British Isles situated in the English channel and responsible to promote their respective economies and entice substantial investments.

The rule of thumb is if you are looking to establish your UK residence rights in the UK, perhaps, it is more suitable to apply for the Tier 1 Investor visa in the UK instead of the Crown dependency.
